Carers

Moving sands of time

Moving sands of time

There is a great article, pointed out to me by my beautiful daughter, in this weekend’s The Age Good Weekend written by Stephanie Dowrick on Caring for the Carers. The excerpt reads, “The entwined roles of patient and carer are intimate and complex. When they are played out over years rather than weeks, they may arouse deep emotions”.  As Stephanie Dowrick states, “Clearly, carers also need care”.  I believe one of the reasons why carers maybe forgotten in terminal illness situations is that the whole scene becomes so confronting for people that they are unable to take in the whole scene and so focus on what they may see as the most important, that is on the one who is dying.

Great to get the feed back. I would like a lot more people reading this blog and getting really involved as my book is about to be published.
